New Hampshire nurses in UNC Wilmington's programs
New Hampshire is a comfortable fit for UNCW's online programs. Its nursing regulator lists post-licensure programs such as RN-BSN and RN-MSN as outside the Board's regulation, and its out-of-state placement rule targets pre-licensure schools. A New Hampshire multistate license also clears UNCW's license bar for the NP concentrations, though those clinical hours are logged in North Carolina.

The Board's line: pre-licensure schools in, post-licensure study out
New Hampshire's out-of-state rule, Nur 602.15(j), is headed Distance Education-Pre-Licensure and is written for approved pre-licensure schools from elsewhere that contract with New Hampshire facilities. Those schools register with the Board, send notice six weeks before each placement, file paperwork per rotation and per preceptor, and use visiting clinical faculty who hold a New Hampshire license.
UNCW's online offerings sit on the other side of that line. The OPLC education page names RN-BSN and RN-MSN programs as unregulated by the Board, which speaks to UNCW's RN-BSN and to master's-level nurse educator study. DNP study is not named, so Post APRN and Nurse Executive Leadership students should still ask UNCW.
A date problem hangs over that rule: the LII version shows it lapsing on January 23, 2026, but OPLC kept referring to it that January, and no readoption was confirmed.

Licensing, practice and employers across New Hampshire
Compact-wise, New Hampshire is a long-standing member, with an implementation date of January 19, 2018. For UNCW NP applicants who live there, that settles the license question: the multistate credential New Hampshire issues its residents is the compact license UNCW names, and UNCW's educator programs accept it too. The APRN Compact has no New Hampshire enactment, and AANP places the state in its full-practice group.
Large employers include Catholic Medical Center, an HCA Healthcare hospital, Concord Hospital Health System, and Dartmouth Health with its Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Elliot Health System is one founding member of SolutionHealth; Southern New Hampshire Health is the other, and a July 2025 board proposal would unwind that partnership. Roughly 459,000 Granite Staters fall inside the Boston-Cambridge-Newton metro, with the Manchester-Nashua metro and the Concord area as the other population centers. Any setting needs UNCW's approval and a signed agreement before a practicum or project begins.
UNCW's North Carolina requirement for NP students
For FNP, AGPCNP and PMHNP students the map is fixed. UNCW's DNP handbook sends all practicum hours to North Carolina, where preceptors must practice, so hours at a New Hampshire employer, however convenient, cannot count. Does New Hampshire require UNCW to file anything before my RN-BSN practice experience?
It appears not. OPLC's education page puts RN-BSN programs in the unregulated, post-licensure group, and the state's out-of-state filing rule covers pre-licensure schools. UNCW still asks nursing students to check state requirements before enrolling, so confirm with the School of Nursing.
Is New Hampshire's Nur 602.15 rule still in effect?
Nobody has confirmed it either way. LII's text marks the rule as lapsing in late January 2026, while OPLC referred to it that same month, and readoption was not verified. It reaches only pre-licensure programs in any case, and UNCW's pre-licensure BSN and ABSN are on-campus programs in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Will a New Hampshire compact license cover UNCW NP clinicals in North Carolina?
Yes, for the license piece. UNCW's NP admission pages accept a North Carolina license or a compact license, and a multistate license issued by New Hampshire as your home state qualifies. Keep it active and unrestricted; the hours themselves must be completed at North Carolina sites.
Could a New Hampshire psychiatric NP precept my UNCW PMHNP hours?
